Bitterroot F O Mandolin Specifications

This Bitterroot F O mandolin, serial no. 14462310, has a Sitka Spruce top. Sitka Spruce is cream color with a wide range of grain lines-per-inch. Sitka Spruce offers a nice mid-range to start with great punch and depth of tone. It starts to mature after, or around, 50 hours of play.

The flamed maple on this Bitterroot F O mandolin, serial no. 14462310, has a tight cell structure with varied grain and horizontal banding or flame. It gives great crisp projection with punchy volume and tone that continues to mature with age.

The oval hole on this Bitterroot F O mandolin, serial no. 14462310, mellows the instrument and provides a slightly broader projection than the F-hole.

This Bitterroot F O mandolin, serial no. 14462310, has tone bars, two braces running from the head block, somewhat following the angle of the sound holes to the tail block. Tone bars offer a great bell-like sustain. They take longer to mature than an X-braced instrument but develop incredible depth of character and tone with play.
