String Instrument Restoration
Mandolins, Guitars, Violins, Violas, Cellos and Basses
Restoration of string instruments is very rewarding. I've been privileged to work on a 200 year old cello and marveled at the evidence of efforts to sustain its life. I'm happy to be part of that evidence.
Just as rewarding is bringing life to a family heirloom. In this photo of the "Findlay Chamber Orchestra Ensemble" is a violin I restored held by W. D. Sterner, third from right. It's wonderful to have this photo and memory to share.

I enjoy how beautiful restorations can be. After removing the fingerboard and top and repairing cracks, hand-rubbing the finish brought out the true beauty of this old Maggini violin. In the photo the top has been reattached on its way to final restoration.
